Mount Zion Community Impact and and Engagement - 2014

In December 2014, Love for Change Women's Foundation partnered with Mount Zion Ministry and Expression of Freedom House to create a remarkable outreach, focusing on community impact and engagement. Our shared goal was to extend a helping hand to the less privileged and vulnerable individuals in our communities, prisons, and hospitals. Through the provision of essential resources such as food and medical supplies, we aimed not only to address immediate needs but also to instill a sense of hope and connection within these marginalized groups.

The event's highlight was our inaugural activity at the Jakande Community of Lekki, Lagos, where we provided medical support and nourishment to 500 families. This event exemplified the power of unity and compassion, showing that even small gestures can lead to significant transformations. The impact of this collaboration continues to reverberate, inspiring ongoing efforts to make a positive difference in the lives of those in need.

The legacy of our December 2014 outreach event remains a testament to the remarkable outcomes that can be achieved when organizations and individuals come together for a common purpose. Love for Change Women's Foundation, Mount Zion Ministry, and Expression of Freedom House continue to embody the spirit of compassion and community engagement.

Back to School Outreach in Warri (Delta State) and Lagos state

Driving our quest to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for children in Nigeria (SDG 4), we partnered with two organizations to hold a "Back to School Outreach" in September 2020. We collaborated with Clevermind in Warri and Destiny Trust in Lagos by providing essential educational materials to be distributed to school children. Our mission was simple yet impactful: to equip these students with the tools they need to succeed in their academic journey. Through the generous support of our community and dedicated partners, we were able to share bags and books with deserving students.

The core aim of the event was to contribute to the educational growth and development of these young minds in Warri (Delta State) and Lagos state. By providing these children with basic educational materials, we are empowering them and setting the foundation for their future success. The event also fostered a sense of community support, reminding these kids that they are valued members of a larger network that cares deeply about their well-being.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed partners, Clevermind School in Warri, and Destiny Trust, Lagos. Their collaboration played a pivotal role in making this event possible. Together, we shared a common vision of empowering the next generation and investing in their education for a brighter future.

As we reflect on this remarkable event, we are reminded of the positive change that can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose. While the event took place in September 2023, its impact continues to resonate, and the memories of those beaming faces remain a source of inspiration for us all.

Needs Assessment conducted in Lagos, 2023

At Love for Change Women’s Foundation, we are committed to empowering women and driving positive change within our communities. In July, 2023, we conducted a Needs Assessment in the Bariga and Oworonshoki communities of Lagos, Nigeria, reflecting our dedication to understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by women.

This initiative was aimed at gaining deeper understanding of the gaps and needs of women in these communities and provide insights on Lagos state generally. With a focus on women and young girls aged 15 to 60, we collected first hand primary data that would inform our future empowerment strategies. Through targeted questions and indices, we aimed to identify areas where support and intervention are most needed.

80 women actively participated in the survey, offering their valuable insights and sharing their perspectives on the challenges they face. By engaging with the participants directly, we aimed to capture a comprehensive picture of their needs and aspirations.

The questions in our survey were thoughtfully designed to shed light on the specific challenges and needs experienced by women in these communities. Through open-ended responses, the participants provided detailed insights into areas that require focused attention. The findings highlighted areas such as education, healthcare access, skill development, and economic opportunities as key focus points for intervention.

Moving forward, Love for Change Women’s Foundation is deeply committed to using the insights gained from the Needs Assessment survey to guide our future actions. By understanding the unique challenges faced by women in these communities, we can tailor our programs and initiatives to address these needs effectively. We believe that through targeted empowerment, education, and support, we can contribute to a brighter future for these women and their families. Promoting Open source and accessible data, the needs assessment report can be found here.

Modupeola Bello Olukoya is a passionate Teacher, Change Agent, Transformation Leader, Mentor and Encourager. A lover of nature who is intrigued and fascinated by Art. She is best described as courageous, passionate, resilient, wise, innovative, organised and analytical.

She has served in various capacities in the church and the community, her desire is fuelled by the need to fulfil purpose beyond the hustle for survival alone and impact lives. She loves helping and equipping people with information that enables them to become the best versions of themselves through mindset change and to find a compelling vision that changes the world. She has a huge burden for Nigerian and African communities at large and she uses her skills and assignments to impact different areas of engagement.

In the last 20 years, she has actively volunteered with and worked for different foundations, locally and internationally for NGO projects geared towards alleviating poverty, abolishing human trafficking, rehabilitation and the development of Africa in line with various sustainable development goals.

These organizations include Mount Zion Ministry (an expression of Freedom House), Bethsaida Homes Lagos, Nigeria, City Care Madrid, AVANZA, Hillsong, Madrid, Madrid for refugees and Manos de Ayuda Association, Madrid, Spain.

The objective here is to meet the needs of the poor in Nigeria and encourage community spirit by being each other’s helper through the sharing of unwanted (new or fairly used) items of any kind to someone else to acquire at no cost. It’s FREE: Buy Nothing, Give Freely and Share the Bounty. She collects donations from people in Madrid and ships them to Nigeria for the use of those in need, orphanages, and churches.

MODUPEOLA AS A CHANGE AGENT The strength of her belief is that Nigeria and Africa’s future and emerging prosperity will be spurred by active citizens and social innovators. As the personal assistant of the Nigerian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, she leveraged that opportunity to advise on changing the socio-economic welfare of the Nigerian and African communities in Spain. This allows Africans to be better positioned, informed and thrive in Spain.

HER MANDATE For a long time, she struggled with articulating who she was and what she represented, not realizing that every failure, challenge, achievement and success story all lead to living a life of purpose. She has learnt a lot from life experiences, and she is convinced that our scars and victories should not be kept secret but must be used as part of blueprints and teachings that will encourage and strengthen others to live and embrace life fully. As she grows and submits to learning, she resists being defined in a particular way that highlights shortcomings such as modesty or humility. She has learnt that it is perfectly OK to have many layers and still be exactly who God created you to be. Life is about BECOMING and she embraces it wholeheartedly.

Modupeola has always been passionate about children and women especially. Her leadership and mentorship journey started while at the university rallying around and gathering women for encouragement, support groups and mentorship. This later morphed into a support group and women’s ministry which she founded in 2018 living in Madrid, Spain. Hephzibah Woman is a support group and a safe environment for young women geared at developing outstanding women of value to live out and fulfil a PURPOSEFUL life as pre-ordained by God. The mission is to connect, support, equip, encourage, and challenge women to be the best versions of themselves.

In 2014, she founded Love for Change an initiative to empower women to alleviate poverty through social development skills and engaging in charitable activities emphasizing the needs of women and children. The initiative in partnership with Mount Zion ministry provides critical community gap solutions such as feeding people, providing medical care, and rescuing and rehabilitating women trafficked for sex.

This is her commitment to fighting poverty in society and impacting lives through mindset change and reorientation. (New Thinking). She is also the founder of Trash to Treasure Lagos, Nigeria a community that seeks to promote compassion, free up resources through recycling, and waste reduction and give freely without expectations.
